Bus rides and other such adventures!

Well as we have found out, we take a lot of buses around the city.  Yesterday we spent the day visiting 9 homes where we will be doing some construction and painting.  It took us a good hour and a half on buses to get to the houses.  After lunch we went downtown to buy materials for the construction  and Michelle and Anna had quite the fun time picking out the paint. Ended up with Michelle getting paint all over her face and backpack. Anna said she said she could...Anyways, Michelle says that she fits in quite well with the size of the country and Anna often finds herself saying she is too tall for the country :)  Yesterday was a very busy day and didnt get back to the church till after 8:30. We went to bed pretty soon after that and didnt have to get up till 9 when I (Matteo) made breakfast for everyone and then we had another planning meeting for the VBS stuff. OH, almost forgot we will be leaving for the Youth Camp tomorrow night after doing some wandering around downtown with Edwin, kind of a sight seeing visit :)  Anywho, we should go, Buenas Tardes (GoodAfternoon).

Oh yeah, we tried some new colombian chicken for lunch and it was really good.  And for all you people with snow it is very warm here and some of us are wearing shorts ... sorry, couldnt resist :)

WE ARE HERE!!

Yes, we have finally made it to Colombia. After a crazy day of planes and airports and moving sidewalks and napping a poetry, we made it to Colombia at about nine thirty (Colombia time) last night. Then, we were driven extraordinarily fast through the streets, up to the top of the city. It was, needless to say, a very thrilling and dangerous drive, but it was very fun. :) This morning we had a team devo over breakfast, and then we met with Edwin and the pastor of Castillo Fuerte, as well as the youth that will be helping us with the VBS we are starting next tuesday. We had a great bible study with them, reading from Job. It was awesome. Then some more planning, and out for lunch at a little restaraunt where we would have been lost without Edwin. It was the biggest and most delicious lunch we have ever eaten. I speak for all of us when I say it was mucho mucho good. Now we are about to go shopping for all of our groceries and materials for crafts for the VBS which we are focusing on the life and ministry of Jesus. It will be mucho fantastico. Thank you so much for your prayers, we are having a crazy and amazing time so far, and God is doing so much in Colombia all the time, it is really cool to see that there are many people here who love and serve the same God that we do!

Less than a week!

Hola mis amigos!
Well, it is now less than a week till we will be leaving for Colombia!  We will be leaving bright and shiny early on January 3rd at 6:45 in the morning, which means we have to be at the airport at 4:30 am, fun stuff!!  We'll have a two hour layover in Houston, TX and then we will be on our way to Bogota.  I suppose you'll be wondering what we'll be doing there too!  Well, from the 4th to the 7th when we first arrive we will be doing a lot of planning for the things we are going to be doing over the three weeks we are in Colombia.  From the 7th to the 10th we will be at a youth camp.  Not too much info on the camp, but as far as we know all we will be doing is hanging out with the youth and getting to know them during this time.
We will also be doing two VBS's during our time in Colombia.  The first is in Castillo Fuerte, a church in Bogota, from the 11th to 14th and the second is in Caracoli a town north west of Bogota.  During the second VBS we will also be doing some carpentry work for a senior's place in the afternoons.  We return to Canada on the 25th of January again passing through Houston.
We are all really excited to get going in less than a week!  Thank you all for your prayers and support! We will be keeping you up to date with regular posts and interesting facts while we are in Colombia.
